I’ve mentioned these pads in a number of other posts before but I wanted to do a dedicated post to them to reiterate how fantastic I think they are.
I use these after cleansing my face as a toning step. One side of the pad is slightly bumpy which is great for some extra exfoliation as well as removing any leftover grime or makeup (which ideally there shouldn’t be any of if you’ve cleansed properly!) I would recommend storing these upside down so that when you go to use the top pad it is well saturated. That is a huge plus of these pads; they are really well saturated so there is plenty of product to wipe over your face and neck.
Their purpose is to exfoliate the skin which gets rid of dead skin cells efficiently and helps to decongest pores which in turn should reduce spots and improve skin tone. The ingredients of glycolic acid and salicylic acid are to thank for these effects. I certainly experience a massive improvement in skin condition when I use these pads and sometimes when I have stopped using them to try a different product (for example Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Acid Pads) I notice a big turn for the worse! When using them I find the number of spots I get is reduced and whenever I do happen to get some they go away fairly swiftly. They also have a good general impact on my skin tone and complexion, it looks more even with reduced redness. Regarding pores I am unfortunate to have inherited large ones so they do not work any miracles on that front.
Despite being called ‘Extreme Pads’ I do not find them at all harsh on my skin, in fact they feel gentle and leave my skin feeling soft. Having said that I have used exfoliating acids on my face for years so if you are newer they may cause more of a tingle. They do have a scent to them which to me smells orangey. I use one pad morning and evening which is contrary to what it recommends on the packaging but I think once your skin is used to acids why not use them twice daily as part of your skincare routines? It’s done my skin no harm at all. Although I must mention when using any type of acid, AHA (eg glycolic or lactic acid) or BHA (eg salicylic acid), you must always wear sunscreen in the day! You should do this anyway if you want to keep your skin looking young for as long as possible however when using acids your skin is even more sensitive to the sun so it is extra important.
A big reason I have bought these pads time and time again is because they can offer excellent value for money. If you keep an eye out, every now and then the Nip+Fab website or Superdrug will offer these for £5! Boots sometimes sell them for 1/3 off. If you’ve not tried these yet and like the sound of them definitely snap a pot up next time you see them on offer. If you’re a bit scared by the ‘extreme’ name, I love the original Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads just as much. Incidentally, they were the first glycolic acid product I tried and they completely changed my spot prone skin for the better.
I can’t rave about Nip+Fab pads enough, my skin is so much clearer thanks to these and the original pads.
