The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation

The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation comes in a glass bottle with a pump and is available in 16 shades. The shade range looks fairly good, however, I have the shade 012 which is the second lightest so I expect the lightest shade will still not be light enough for some.

The foundation has a watery consistency so I find that the initial application is best done with a brush to keep as much coverage as possible; a sponge absorbs too much of it. Once I’ve built up a level of cover I’m happy with I go over with a sponge when I apply my concealer. The coverage is light and the finish is dewy. I always powder on top to minimise transfer and to bring down the shine! The finish is very pretty actually, it looks fresh, natural and healthy. Although, you need to have naturally good skin or be having a good skin day for this to be adequate coverage as it is very light. It evens out your skin tone and gives a healthy complexion but any blemishes or scars will still be visible. Sometimes I don’t mind having a few blemishes peeking through if my skin is generally looking quite good, it all adds to the natural beauty look! You can always spot conceal with a heavy duty concealer on any problem areas.

I do think this is a hydrating foundation as claimed. I’ll admit I had a naughty nap one afternoon when I was wearing this foundation (I can’t seem to get through a day without napping at the moment 😦 ) and when I woke up my skin wasn’t feeling tight like it does when I’ve napped wearing other foundations. Yes, I know you shouldn’t sleep in makeup but naps don’t count in my book hehe.

On a cold day on my normal/combo skin the foundation lasted reasonably well, probably about 6 hours before it started wearing off and getting oily; on the end of my nose it wore off a lot quicker but then I am always rubbing it with a tissue! As a light coverage, hydrating foundation I didn’t expect it to have exceptional lasting powder tbh. The coverage does wear off but it wears off quite gracefully. However when it’s only a light coverage to begin with, when that wears off there’s not much left and it leaves me feeling quite bare and self conscious.

This foundation costs £15 and is readily available online and instore where you can usually always find at least a 30% off voucher code to use. The Body Shop seem to have discount codes 24/7!

If you have clear skin and like a light, dewy finish this is a nice foundation! However, for me it’s not enough coverage and doesn’t last long enough at a flawless level. I will finish the bottle and use it on good skin days where I won’t be wearing makeup for more than about 6 hours. I don’t think I would repurchase.

Love Nicole xxxx
