Palmer’s Creamy Cleanser and Makeup Remover Review

This is a cleanser from Palmer’s that uses their cocoa butter formula. It is priced at £5.99 and is available from a range of retailers (I bought this one at Superdrug). I love Palmer’s for their body lotions and their haircare so when I saw this cleanser I wanted to try it!

Palmer's Creamy Cleanser and Makeup Remover cocoa butter formula review

It is a thick, creamy consistency and it must be applied to damp skin. At first I assumed this was the type of cream cleanser you apply to dry skin but when I tried this the result was not good; it just doesn’t work! Your skin definitely needs to be wet but not dripping wet otherwise the product will not lather well. I found the best way to use it was to wet my hands, then squeeze some product onto them and then begin to massage my face.

Once I’d figured out how to get the best from this product, it actually worked very nicely. It lathers and ‘foams’ up nicely but it is not your typical ‘foam’ that is drying. The formula is actually very gentle and doesn’t dry out the skin at all. It removes all base makeup excellently, meaning it can be used as a first and second cleanse. I’ve found it okay to use over the eyes, however, I would not use it alone to remove heavy eye makeup. If you only wear a bit of mascara though it would probably be absolutely fine removing that.

The smell, as you would expect, is very much similar to Palmer’s other cocoa butter products. I really like this smell in things like body lotions or hair products, however, I found that I didn’t really enjoy putting this on my face. I find cocoa butter quite a heavy smelling fragrance and I’ve discovered I prefer products with a fresher scent on my face. The product itself is quite heavy feeling also, due to it being so thick and creamy and foaming up like it does. This, combined with the scent, I found a bit much and I prefer a fresher feeling and lighter cleanser.

Overall, it’s not a bad product. It removes makeup well, can be used morning and evening, doesn’t dry out skin, is an affordable price point and leaves skin feeling soft and clean. Much to my surprise however, I found that I didn’t enjoy a cleanser that smells like cocoa butter! It was a bit heavy for my preferences.

Love Nicole xxxx
